SMS Opt-In Flow

This page documents how end users consent to receive text messages from C.M.S. The app is a native iOS/Android application; consent is collected inside the app at the moment the user enters their phone number. There is no website sign-up form. The app is currently in pre-release (App Store and Google Play submissions in progress), so the opt-in screen is reproduced below exactly as it appears in the app.

Opt-in steps

  1. The user installs the Clinch Mountain Bodywork app and taps “I’m a client”.
  2. The sign-in screen asks for the user’s mobile number. The number is required only to deliver a one-time verification code that proves they own it; it is not consent to ongoing messages.
  3. Beneath the number field is a separate SMS-consent checkbox, unchecked by default:

    The user must deliberately tap the box to opt in. Leaving it unchecked is allowed: the user can still sign in and use the app, and will receive notifications by push only.
  4. The user taps Continue, receives the one-time code, and enters it. The checkbox state is recorded on the account at that moment (with a timestamp).
  5. The server sends appointment texts only to accounts with recorded consent. Accounts without it are never texted notifications, even as a fallback. Users can also opt in later by choosing “Text message (SMS)” in the app’s notification settings, and opt out at any time by replying STOP or switching back to push.

All messages are transactional. No marketing or promotional messages are sent. Message frequency depends on the user’s bookings (typically 2–3 messages per appointment).
